BVN Verification

Modified on Tue, 12 May at 4:24 AM

Why does Nyangu request my BVN?

For landlords and agents, Nyangu requests your Bank Verification Number (BVN) to confirm that the bank account linked to your profile belongs to you. This ensures that rent payments and platform disbursements go to the right person and protects you from unauthorized use of your account.

Your BVN is used strictly for account verification purposes and is never shared with third parties. It is handled in full compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).

Who is required to submit a BVN?

BVN verification is required for landlords and agents only. Renters are not required to submit a BVN.

When do I submit my BVN?

You will be prompted to submit your BVN during the onboarding process when setting up your payment details. You cannot receive payments through Nyangu until BVN verification is completed.

Is my BVN stored on Nyangu?

Nyangu does not store your full BVN. It is used at the point of verification to confirm your identity against your bank records and is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

What happens if my BVN verification fails?

If your BVN cannot be verified, you will receive a notification prompting you to review the details submitted. Common reasons for failure include a mismatch between your BVN and the bank account provided or an incorrectly entered BVN. If the issue persists, contact our support team at support@nyangu.com, and we will assist you.
